ORDER YOUR COMMEMORATIVE "I LOVE KAIMUKI" T-SHIRT
ALL PROCEEDS DIRECTLY BENEFIT OUR ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR KAIMUKI-AREA HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS!
Did you know that there was once an ostrich farm in Kaimuki?
Yes! It's a little-known fact that King David Kalakaua, during his overseas travels in the 1800s, became enamored with the ostrich and had them imported to Hawaii. He raised them on property on the hills above Kaimuki and they resided there until being moved to what is now the Honolulu Zoo.
Each year, we hold a design contest for the next year's T-Shirt and for 2017 the winning artist made the ostrich farm the theme of the shirt.
Whether you're purchasing for yourself or for friends and family on the Mainland, they'll get a kick out of Kaimuki's ostriches!
T-Shirts are available online below - or you can pick them up at Surf N Hula, 3588 Waialae in Kaimuki. (Cash only, please)
All proceeds from the sale of our T-Shirts each year fund our annual scholarship program to benefit area high school seniors.
Our Aloha shirts come in two colors: green & navy and blue & brown. Both feature the "I Love Kaimuk" logo embroidered on the front. See detail below.
